“Abandon hope all ye who enter here”... Okay, I just felt like putting that there! Please hold onto your hope but bear in mind that the next couple of steps are not to be taken by the faint-hearted.

The things that will be listed here will challenge your routine schedules and force some major changes to occur in your life and must be adhered to over the next 30 days. Don't worry, it'll be so much worth the experience at the end of it all. Remember Hebrews 12:11 “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.


Rules For Following The Steps to Change Your Life For The Better

  • Start now; No delays, no excuses, no elaborate preparations. Determine to start and do so now.
  • Commit by documentation; Write down this journey you're about to embark on noting the first day and the day it'll end, tick off the days successfully kept on a calendar, if you're the journal type then do keep notes on how each day goes. It helps greatly to write down the changes you're supposed to be making for the next 30 days and put them where you can see them every morning.
  • Self-care is not Selfishness; These 30 days are solely for you, consider them a sabbatical of sorts, one where you're focused on you. Not everyone will understand or agree and that's fine, keep the explanations to the barest minimum and only to the handful deserving one.

Joshua 24:15 “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord .”

Take time out, identify your principles, your life's philosophy as it were and document them for good measure. Knowing your principles and life philosophy will help you filter the clutter that comes at you every day and make you more firm in your ways, not like one fluttering in the wind.


Cut-off, Lay-off, and Declutter

This is going to touch every aspect of your life… You're going to make radical changes to your feeding, work habits, and even your wardrobe!

On Feeding: Proverbs 25:27 “It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep.”

Cut-off completely if possible or simply reduce the intake of processed foods, sugar (obviously ), alcohol and basically any drink that isn't water or tea or some sort of natural vegetable/fruit thing. For all those counting beverages like hot chocolate and the like (Horlicks, Bournvita etc) as tea, they ain't. Lay off the caffeine as well.

For the next 30 days do not skip breakfast (unless you're on a fast) and do not take any food after 7pm except its water or tea (again, I'm not talking about anything cocoa related)

Make it a do-or-die affair to drink at least 3.5litres of water over the course of 24hrs i.e at the end of each day for the next 30 days you should've drunk at least 3.5L of water. Start the day off with a glass of water (and your time with God of course).

You are what you eat and the right eating habits have a way of boosting our metabolism and self-esteem as well. You feel good when you feel good!!! These changes in your diet will leave you feeling healthier and happier.

On Working Habits: Psalm 127:2 “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

Go through your workspace, schedules, and calendars; delegate any jobs that will survive delegation and cancel/reschedule any appointments that are absolutely unnecessary. Group your workload into specific time frames with realistic deadlines and work towards them. Work with teams where allowed and never be afraid to turn down a job you cannot handle.

Purpose is a word that sends a lot of us scurrying like frightened mice, it's really not that difficult tho. Asides your basic and most fundamental reason for existence being the glorifying of God or the mandate of the gospels regarding evangelism, it's imperative that you understand that purpose is a means to an end and not an end in itself.

In assessing your purpose, identify your personal interests and strengths as well as the ills around you that you can't stand and would change at the slightest chance. For those whose nights start by 3am). Having a regular routine immediately before sleep also helps, like having a drink of water or a few minutes of light reading.


Go Technology Free Twice In every 5 Days

Yes!!! This I'm sure will be most hard for some. However, it is very important. Separate yourself from the madness that is technology for 2 days in every 5 days, it doesn't have to be consecutively.

Some of my best days are the days when my phones are off and I'm not bothered by the endless beeping of unread messages, updates or calls. Give yourself 2 days off in every 5 days or 7 days if you can't do 5, with explanations only where absolutely necessary. It'll do you a world of good and give you the peace you thought long lost.


List 5 Things You're Grateful For Everyday

Psalm 103:2 “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—”

Identifying your blessings helps keeps things in perspective and fuel gratefulness and happiness. Asides the spiritual implications of gratefulness and thanksgiving, gratefulness helps you focus on the positive and keep the negative (as seen by man's eye) in its proper place; a place of little significance.

This will greatly improve your overall disposition as well as help you see life in a new light.

Stick To Specific Bible Study and Quiet Times With God

There is no time like God-time… A major reason that can lead to dissatisfaction with life is a distance from God. Truth is, in the presence of God all of life's ills fade away and we are rejuvenated as well as strengthened for whatever trials lay ahead or are already in play.

God-time is therefore of the utmost importance and the best way to make sure you have a stable personal fellowship with God is to fix specific times in which to fellowship. Have a fixed time for your word study/prayer/quiet time and never compromise them for anything else.
